Hi All! It’s been awhile. Most recent news: I decided to run for Ms. North Hollywood in the upcoming Miss North Hollywood Pageant! It’s super exciting, right? If you know me at all, you are probably thinking, “Hmm?” But yeah, it’s happening. The pageant is coming up on May 31st! I’ve been working the last couple months to get sponsors to represent me and donations to help pay for pageant costs. It’s been a lot of work, but it’s helping me gain confidence and break out of my shell. Nothing good ever comes to those who don’t take action. So I’m taking action and going after what I want. Thank you to Valencia BMW for sponsoring me!
If you’ve read a few of my previous posts, I shared that I’m also working a program of recovery. I know. Your surprised right? The truth is that addiction affects people from all walks of life. I actually feel blessed, because all of my experiences are now stories that I can share with others, and inspire them to take action to change and live sober, happy lives. I’m becoming a different person. And I love that. I feel like I’m finally becoming the person I was meant to be. I’ve learned so much about myself. I’ve been able to let go of the past and just live in the moment. I’m not perfect by any means, I still have my days, but for the most part, life is just better. It’s been an incredible journey so far.
My platform is “Reach Higher: Inspiring at risk youth and young women to overcome obstacles and reach for the stars! If you are willing to work for it, anything is possible!” I want to inspire young people and women to face their struggle, overcome obstacles and learn to love themselves just the way they are. Life is too short not to believe in yourself and chase your dreams. Many of us women are held back by fear. Fear of the unknown and fear of failure. But failure is not to be feared, because each failure brings you one step closer to success. For those of us clouded by the baffling power of addiction, sometimes dreams seem out of reach, or can be forgotten entirely. But underneath it all, passions never die. I believe wholeheartedly that once a person becomes willing to surrender, the world just opens up. The cloud lifts, and God starts to open doors. We begin to know what it truly means to love ourselves, and in turn learn how to love others. I no longer want to die as I did when I was using. I’m so grateful for my life. I want nothing more than to change the lives of others through my creative work, as well as through work with different organizations such as The Boys and Girls Club, Kids in the Spotlight Inc., Operation Blankets of Love, and various non-profits and support centers for women struggling with substance abuse and addiction. The best life is one lived not only for yourself, but for others. I hope to touch peoples lives in any way that I can.
Life is beautiful and we mustn’t be afraid of change. Sometimes doing the thing we are most afraid to do, is the very thing that will set us free. And when we are free, we shine.
