I woke up before six am today. That’s not unlike many days. I wake up early, make my coffee and get started with my day. There are usually so many things to do, emails to send, projects to submit to, research to do, social media checks and updates… but when I hear the birds chirping through the windows and see the sun coming up, brightening the sky, I think to myself how lucky I am that I GET to live this life.
Everyday day is different. I can make it whatever I want it to be. If I’m not booked on a show or project, I get to choose how productive I want to be. If I just want to take it easy, I usually can (for a little while anyway). On most days, I try to get in as much as possible to push my career forward. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, but then there are the days when I get to do the things I only dreamt about in the past. Recently, I did a photo shoot at a millionaire’s mansion in Beverly Hills and the next day I got to wear phenomenal clothing made by a designer named Xandra in a runway show and red carpet event. There are so many doors opening as a result of doing the Miss North Hollywood Pageant and it’s so exciting. I had one of the funnest weekends ever. What a blessing to GET to do that!
I’ve learned that in this business it’s about ATTITUDE and WORK, that involves every part of you. Your ability to network, stay in touch, keep resume’s up to date, websites up to date, practice your craft, workout, eat well and take care of your general health and mental health. For me, that involves taking time out of my day to focus on my recovery. So each day I try to pray and meditate, and on several days I go to meetings.
I think the most important thing to remember is to have GRATITUDE. Instead of thinking “Ugh. I HAVE to do this and this…”, I think ” I GET to do this and this and this…” Life is good. God is good. And I know that with this attitude, I will not fail.
